Next weekend, November 21-23, I’ll be a guest at Philadelphia’s long-running science fiction convention, PhilCon, held once again at the Doubletree Hotel in scenic Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Here’s my schedule if you want to stop by.
FRIDAY, November 21
6:00 p.m. — Science Fiction Games: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!: A panel discussion on science fiction games in various media, which are the best, and which are the worst.
9:00 p.m. — The “You Missed the Point” Starter Pack: Panel discussion on characters who aren’t supposed to be role models, but somehow turned into fan favorites anyway. I’ll be moderating this one.
SATURDAY, November 22
10:00 a.m. — Autographing: I’ll be signing books, magazines, casts, contracts, you name it.
12:00 noon — Safety Tools and Session Zeroes — What They Are and Why Your Game Needs Them: Panel discussion (or possibly more of a debate) on whether we need formal rules and mechanics to stop players and gamemasters from being jerks.
4:00 p.m. — You Don’t Really Want an A.I. Robot . . . Yet: I’m moderating a powerhouse panel on the current state of A.I., where it seems to be going, and whether it’s all a load of hype.
6:00 p.m. — Military-Industrial Complex Insecurity: A panel discussion on war, technology, and how both are changing very rapidly.
SUNDAY, November 23
11:00 a.m. — SME, Myself, and Getting It Right: I get to moderate a panel of science fiction demigods discussing one of my favorite topics, doing research!
12:00 noon — Reading: Come and listen to an advance preview of my upcoming Billion Worlds spy novel The Ishtar Deception!
